Targeted proteomics and the Gemini™ engine
Gemini™ provides the ability to quantify expression levels
of proteins Calibrant’s Gemini™ discovery engine enables comprehensive and quantitative protein profiling of isolated and homogeneous cell populations from both fresh and archival formalin-fixed tissues. Gemini™ analysis begins by isolating specific cells of interest from solid tissue specimens using laser capture microdissection (LCM). Using this approach, biological relevance of the resulting proteomic data can be greatly enhanced, while larger numbers of disease-relevant proteins may be identified through the significant reduction in protein dynamic range afforded by the rejection of unwanted cell types. Gemini™ allows our customers to approach the full biology of disease pathogenesis with exquisite sensitivity by leveraging a proprietary 2-D capillary separation platform combining CITP peptide focusing with RP-nanoLC-MS. With sample requirements uniquely matched to LCM technology, and coupled with an integrated bioinformatics suite enabling effective data mining within a biological context, Calibrant's targeted proteomics methodology provides key benefits for global protein profiling
